Not-So-Empty Day #2: My First IGTV Video

Spending so much time on YouTube, someday I watched a tutorial on how to edit videos on a mobile phone. And you know what? I'm interested. That's it. That's the main idea of today's post. LOL.

It's one day after Eid Al-Adha and my little cousins had their school holiday. My family and I went to a beach in Lamongan. It's just a short getaway near the house and I recorded some footages. Today, I edited the videos into a one-minute video and uploaded it on IGTV. My first IGTV video! It's obviously not so important, but, you know, just in case you want to know, I also post it here (turned out not so good).

Today's sad news: I missed an internship vacancy I've been eyeing since last week. It's purely my procrastinating self's mistake. *praying for myself*

Not-So-Empty Day #1: A Beginning

Well, unlike the title, my life's been, I've been, so empty these days (if not months)...

Of course, I was so happy to finally be graduated from uni. Nonetheless, it's totally not the kind of happiness following an achievement. It's a kind of feeling I got after doing my laundry when in fact, I hate it, I'm tired of it, I never do it well.

And here I am. Being in days of feeling so blank, not knowing what to do, doubts, recalling childhood's dreams. What adds more weight to it is obviously social media. People bragging about how productive they are, how much they earn at their first jobs, etc, etc. I know it's super toxic but I still don't have a plan to sign out anyway. My bad.

Sometimes I think I should start getting a career in the same field I took in uni unless I just want to make those 5,5 years wasted. Another day, I am sure it's not a problem to pursue a career in other fields as well as starting my own business. Every day having the cycle of those two thoughts make me very unproductive and I end up doing nothing. It leads to me being sad and empty.

So now, with the "Not-So-Empty" series, my goal is just to not add more days to those 5,5 years (it might be 6 by now) wasted of my life. I want to appreciate each of small activities I do and creations I make every single day. It's a commitment to write a diary for someone who can't organize any physical diary book. It's like keeping a track of where my money goes to. Hopefully, I can keep a track of what I use my time for.

Indeed, what you're reading now is today's creation.

One Fine Day in Bromo (A Throwback)

I'm not a fan of nature. If you ask me any places I wanna go, I'll likely say every city, every country I knew. But nature may not be my main reason. Even after knowing this beautiful place on Earth, I still don't change. However, I come to understand why people love exploring the beauty of nature. Beauty it is. God loves beauty and so does His creature, human.

BEAUTY - NATURE - FRIENDSHIP

This is a story including a trip by Wardah Beauty Agent Surabaya. We named it a Beauty Trip. Days after days, for works we're falling so deep. Target, funds, deal, participant. So after all the struggling days, to the mountain, we went. I'm not interested in something very mainstream but Bromo, you're beautiful.

I don't know exactly what beauty is tho. I don't know what makes Bromo beautiful. I didn't understand about nature and still don't. And I can't define what makes a scene of nature beautiful. Is it dramatic? Is it green? Is it about harmony? Is it dynamic?

I was amazed by how Bromo is. The green savanna. The zigzag hills. The whispering sand. The friendship among its features.

Friendship? What is friendship? Making harmony? Uniting differences? Sacrifice?

I tried to catch them all into my camera. But a lens doesn't do the just. We have five senses yet it only catches for a sense, visual. And no matter how many tricks I used to edit the pictures, the real Bromo is more dramatic.

Menjadi WBA: Apa Itu Wardah Beauty Agent?

Wardah Beauty Agent seringnya bikin event-event.

Bagaimana Cara Menjadi WBA?

- Seleksi Berkas: foto, KTM, formulir, CV, dsb
- Interview
- Wawancara Tertulis: ini sepertinya dalam bentuk Forum Group Discussion
- Psikotest

See ya, beauties!

Wardah

My Way of Dressing #1: Layering, Personal Touch, Affordable

Location: Mount Bromo Tengger Semeru, East Java

My personal style/way of dressing includes these 3:

1. Layering, it allows me to come with tons of different possible look with same items. Plus, sometimes non-hijab items are so freaking pretty and to be able to wear that, I must do some layering. Personally, I think layering makes me do some efforts and making effort is more satisfying.

2. Adding some personal touch. Literally. Making from scratch isn't a must, of course, adding some beads or patches also works. No one will ever have the precisely same item as me! In this case, I added some beads to the shoulder parts of my denim jacket and made fringe to the old jeans. This denim jacket is my current favorite.

3. Affordable. What's affordable to each person is different so just chill. For me, even buying an H&M sweater is still a luxury.

To support the statement of me keeping my style affordable, these are the details of how I got the items I wear in the pictures:

Gray Scarf
Traditional Market, IDR17.000. Just a basic Saudia square scarf.

Round Sunnies
Royal Plaza Surabaya, IDR50.000/2 sunnies

Long Sleeve White Shirt
"Tokomuslim" on Shopee apps, IDR32.000

Denim Jeans
"Shelly_shop" on Shopee apps, IDR94.500
The beads are from "centralhandmade" on Shopee apps, IDR2.600-2.700/pack

Black Belt
Stroberi, IDR30.000-ish. It has holes along the whole belt, so convenient for the petite me who always finds it difficult to get a fitted belt.

Culotte Jeans
My aunt's. I made some fringe on the hems, following a tutorial on YouTube. I lost track of the tutorial video I follow so you can search "fringe denim tutorial" or something like that on YouTube. There are some types of fringe so choose anything you want for your jeans.

Sneakers
A classic black Converse shoes. My sister gave me hers because she doesn't wear it anymore.

That's how I dress and I think it works for me. Tell me what's yours! It might be helpful.

Window Shopping + Dressing Up = Fun!

Weekends can be so boring when I don't take a job, friends are not around, and it's not a good time to work on college tasks. Well, it's not just weekend, but the random thought that always appears in my mind when I'm bored is:

GOING TO THE SHOPPING MALL

I'm not really do shopping. Just window shopping. Although I now realize that shopping is so much better and healing. If just I don't need to think about money. Sigh.

It's probably 3 weeks ago when I was so bored and after a long time thinking, I decided to go to a shopping mall, my favorite, Tunjungan Plaza. Alone.

Another thing I realized was that the fun thing about going to the mall isn't the coming itself, but also the dressing-up part. It's so fun to be able to wear more layers comfortably than usual because it's a cold place. It's also fun to put more makeup on my face confidently because no one will judge. Plus, I could step up my 'dressing up' game by trying accessories at the stores. My favorite place is H&M recently. Sunnies and shoes are my favorite sections because I can just try it on once I see it.

No, obviously not buying anything that day because I bought a pair of shoes already at a cheaper store.

An Attempt to Contemporary Bohemian Style

... and I thought it was a fail.

I believe that the no #1 rule of being authenticly stylish is not to stick to any rule. However, I'm not saying the following pictures you'll see showing the concept of bohemian style.

It was my duty day and the event was themed bohemian. Everything is bohemian-inspired. So, rather than buying new clothes (and sandals), I peeked into my old wardrobe and found my sister's tribal top. And you know? I think there are just 2 bohemian items that I wore that day. They're the top and the necklace that you won't see unless I told you. I wore my DIY kimono outerwear because boho is usually defined with loose outerwear, but this outerwear is actually... just not.

Well, let's say my upper part's bohemian style was saved by the top. The lower parts will be no boho at all. For the pants, it's another treasure from my old wardrobe, my aunt's old jeans. It won't matter if I just let the hem be and wear heels. But I am on the documentation team, so I prefer wearing a pair of comfortable sneakers and double-rolled up my jeans.

Voilà! A mix of bohemian and... hip hop?

Menjadi WBA: The Series

Holaaaa!

Setahun lalu, secara nekat aku ikut walk-in interview. Punya waktu beberapa menit, aku pun browsing tentang WBA.

What?
(Sekarang masih males mikir)

Where?
Kalau gaji sepertinya sama, sih ;)

When?

Who?

How?

A Selfie on the Balcony

My face is not made for selfie, even after using some make-up.

But there came a day when I did my makeup, I did my hijab do, and found a good lighting to support my selfie-picture taking. Plus some curtain play to step up the selfie game. Oh, and some photo-editing tools to make them more Instagram-worthy.

This is when I adore myself physically haha. I bet you adore your appearance too sometimes, right? ;)
You need to, girls. Trust me!
_____

By the way, just wanna write it here that I've finally found the lipstick color that I love. This is not sponsored at all (I got some fee from the company monthly but not for this post). I love Wardah Intense Matte Lipstick number 10. Not like other girls, I dislike wearing nude colors because it's not natural at all on me, it just makes my dark lips look worse. And I'm not comfortable with lip cream because I feel like there's something on my lips that disturbs me.

Surabaya Fashion Parade 2017: Moslem Runway (Part 3)

I thought I need to learn more about fashion so I could mention what kind of collections these two were. They might be too quirky for daily wear and had bridal gown too.

Hannie Hananto
Quirky. That's the first word for this collection. I can't avoid my eyes from seeing big heart-shaped ornaments and female line drawings all over the outer-wears, tops, dresses, and even veils. Big polka-dots are understandable in daily wear, but a bridal gown? Catch the spotlight, quirky bride!

Surabaya Fashion Parade 2017: Moslem Runway (Part 2)

New month, new life? Which girl will decline to wear a gorgeous princess-y dress in the ceremony of her new life a.k.a wedding day? These two designers' collections at Moslem Runway Surabaya Fashion Parade 2017 are the eye vitamin for girls who aim to have princess dress on her wedding.

Rasya
Despite various types of the gown, all the bridal gowns in Rasya's collection fall wide from the waist area. They have 'tail', the skirts were longer at the back. Various kinds of fabrics were used, such as metallic, solid, transparent, and textured ones. There's a dress with elegant details with grid-textured fabric and gold lace, remind me of an era in European architecture/art. I always pay attention to a show's accessories or properties. And I fall for the twig-like headpieces on the models' hijab.

Surabaya Fashion Parade 2017: Moslem Runway (Part 1)

After coming with my first post about Surabaya Fashion Parade 2017 featuring UNESA's fashion show, this is the time to share what I saw on the 3rd day of SFP 2017, Moslem Runway. The first part of this series will show you some daily wear collections.

Saffana
I'm sure the designer has improved her skill. Compared to the collection shown at last year's SFP "Elmira by Saffana", this year's collection is more dynamic. Still, I could see feminine touch in the collection. Different textures of fabrics were used, from the strength of velvet to the dramatic tulle. Magenta and sapphire blue played the main role, completing the broken white flowy fabrics.

A Breezy Fun Day in Pantai Babo

The sun was peeking through the spaces formed by the series of coconut tree leaves. The grayish sand met the waves of the sea. People ran happily, built their own castles by the sea. The fresh green of trees faded into dark blue as the distance become further. Three islets invited us to come into them. The meeting of the skies of blue and the teal sea? OOTD pictures we did!

One (Plus One) Days in Villa Indah Mooat

Syawal is a special month as we celebrate Idul Fitri on the first day of the month. It is when Indonesians do 'mudik' and gather with their big family. In recent years, Eid holiday came together with the school holiday, which means a super long holiday.

This year I went to my home in Kotamobagu. And here are the back-to-nature vacation my family and I started to do two days after eid.

I actually went to three places, but only had the documents of two of them. The first place was Villa Indah Mooat near the Mooat Lake. It's a private-owner villa but have been a pre-wedding photoshoot location since so long. Not a long time ago, it is opened for everyone who wants to come in and enjoy the good panorama from the beautiful garden they have. And the news about this place boomed here and there on my social media and chat groups.

Surabaya Fashion Parade 2017: GREYZONE

Well, I know it's the end of June already, but it won't stop me from posting about an event held in May. May is actually an exciting month because there are some sort of events held in Surabaya for the city's birthday celebration. Between all the events, Surabaya Fashion Parade is the one I don't want to miss since last year.

Alhamdulillah, I got invitations for two shows this year in Surabaya Fashion Parade 2017. The first show I came to was presented by Fashion Design students of UNESA. Themed "Greyzone", there were 4 collections made by the final year students.

Funtastic Force
Red, yellow, and green. Those three colors welcomed the audience when the show began. The silhouettes were simple. The explorations were more in the geometrical play applied in the clothings. Patterns were also used in this collection.

3 Things Indonesian Do During Ramadhan

Ramadhan is a holy month out of twelve other months of Hijriyah. It's a holy month because Muslim is supposed to do fasting every day in the month. Muslim is promised with a great reward for every good deed that's done in the month. Usually, people set some targets in their worship, like finishing reading a whole of the holy Quran and rousing the sunnah prayers.

However, besides the main things people do during Ramadhan, there are some cultures happen among Indonesian Muslim. Actually, the cultures may differ every region but generally, these are four of them:

Recent Favorite: My Neighbor Charles

It's some weeks ago when I saw my friend's IG story, telling that she was currently watching a Korean TV show "My Neighbor Charles". Most of her stories gave me a thought that My Neighbor Charles tries to show people how Muslims, as the minority, live in Korea.

Last week, I remembered the IG stories and tried to search it on YouTube. Thanks to my uni's wifi and YouTube's save offline feature (I can even enjoy the cc subtitles), I could watch some episodes of My Neighbor Charles comfortably in my bedroom.

Cerita Zetizen Editor's Choice

Hai, Pals! Apa kabar?
